Katherine Heigl Story
Katherine Marie Heigl is an actress, former model, and movie producer. She was born on November 24, 1978 in Washington D.C and is famous for her role in the hit T.V series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in which she plays Dr. Isobel Stevens. Katherine had started her career as a child model at the very young age of nine when an aunt of hers took pictures of her posing, and with her parent’s permission, sent them to modeling agencies. Heigl was soon scooped up by Wilhelmina, a modeling agency that operates worldwide.
Childhood
Katherine, or Katie as she is lovingly called, was the youngest of 4 children. After joining Wilhelmina, Katie began doing advertisements and started auditioning for T.V and movie roles. Her first film was “The night”, which she worked on when she was just 11 years old. At 14 she would star in her first lead role with “My father the hero” which released in 1994. She balanced her schooling and education along with her modeling and acting.
Her parents separated in 1996 and in the same year Katie’s mother was treated for br4east cancer. Soon after, Katie moved to Hollywood along with her mother to break into the movie industry with her mother as her manager.
Early Career
In 1999 Heigl starred in the science fiction T.V series ‘Rosewell’ serving as her big break. After that she starred in various small scale projects such as ‘Love’s Enduring Promise’ and ‘Love Comes Softly’. After a score of low budget movies, Katie was eventually cast for ‘Grey’s anatomy’.
Career
In 2006, Heigl starred opposite Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd in ‘Knocked Up’ which received positive reviews and turned out to be a box office hit. The move also increased Heigl’s fee as an actor. She later starred in the romantic flick ’27 dresses’ making $6 million in the process. In 2009 she starred opposite Gerald Butler in ‘The ugly truth’. The movie made more than $200 million at the box office worldwide. To the disappointment of scores of fans, she terminated her contract and decided to leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.
The same year she starred in other successful movies such as ‘Killers’ ‘Life as we know it’.
Personal Life
Katie was engaged to musician Josh Kelly in 2006 and married on December 2007. The duo adopted a baby girl from South Korea. They adopted a second child in 2012. Heigl’s brother in law is Charles Kelly from the music group ‘Lady Antebellum’.
Heigl is an animal lover and has helped ‘Best Friends Animal Society’ multiple times.She was awarded the ‘Presidential Service Award’ for her dedication to helping animals.She was also honored by the CCAI for her efforts to spread the awareness of cancer in the same year.

Heigl has won awards at the CAMIE awards, Outstanding Performance by an ensemble at the Guild awards, outstanding supporting actress at the Emmy’s, superstar of tomorrow at the Young Hollywood Awards, Favorite Female TV Drama Actress and Female Star Of The Year at the People’s Choice Awards.
