Childhood

Diaz was born to Billie Joan and Emilio Diaz in 1972. Her father’s side of the family is Cuban, and she has English, German, and Scots-Irish ancestry on her mother’s side.

She has one older sister named Chimene. She lived on Long Beach with her family and attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where Snoop Dogg studied at the same time. When Diaz was 16 years old, she left home to travel the world and pursue a career in modelling.

Career

Diaz travelled the world for five years, setting out on her own when she was just 16 years old. She chose to pursue fashion modelling in various places like Japan, Australia, Mexico, Morocco, and Paris. Her first contract was with Elite Model Management under which she modelled for world famous brands like Levi’s, Coca Cola, and Calvin Klein.

Her first film was The Mask which came out in 1994. Diaz, who hadn’t done acting before that and had only auditioned for a supporting role, took up lessons, and the movie turned out to be a blockbuster.

All her later movies turned out into huge successes too. Some of her early famous movies are The Last Supper(1995), Feeling Minnesota(1996), Head Above Water(1996), My Best Friend’s Wedding(1997), and the existential comedy Being John Malkovich.

Diaz has also voiced the feisty princess Fiona in the 2001 movie Shrek. Other movies to her credit are Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, The Holiday, What Happens in Vegas, Knight and Day, and Bad Teacher.

Cameron Diaz became the second actress to earn $20 million dollars for her role in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. She has taken up versatile roles in all her movies, right from her role in My Sister’s Keeper where she plays a mother of three, to her role in The Counselor where she plays the role of a liar and a sociopath with a past as a stripper.

Diaz published a health book in 2013 called The Body Book: Feed, Move, Understand and Love Your Amazing Body, which claimed the number two position on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Cameron Diaz’s first long term relationship was with producer Carlos de la Torre. She later dated famous celebrities like actor Vincent D’Onofrio, actor Matt Dillon, and Jared Leto.

She also had long term relationships with Justin Timberlake and Alex Rodriguez. She married Benji Madden of Good Charlotte fame on January 2015 after dating him for around eight months. Diaz is an avid environmentalist, and also practices transcendental meditation.

Achievements

There’s Something About Mary won Diaz The New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress, and The American Comedy Award For Funniest Leading Actress in a Motion Picture. Charlie’s Angels won the MTV Motion Awards for best dance sequence.

Her role of Fiona in Shrek, won the Kid’s Choice Awards Wannabe Award. Bad Teacher brought her Cinemacon Awards Female Star of the Year Award. Apart from all this, Cameron Diaz has been voted as one of the sexiest women in the world by several leading magazines.
