Childhood

Najib’s childhood was an ordinary one. He was born on the 24^th of November 1955 in a Sunni Muslim family. Najib’s family was based out of Tripoli. Najib acquired a MBA degree from the University of Beirut. Najib has also done 2 summer school courses in French business school INSEAD and Harvard.

Early Career

After acquiring a MBA degree from the University of Beirut, Najib co-founded a telecommunications company alongside his brother in the year 1982

Career

Najib and his brother Taha co-founded a telecommunications company. Investcom was the telecom company that had projects running in Syria as well as in Africa. In the year 2006, Najib and his brother Taha, sold this company for a whooping US$ 5.5 billion.  In the year 2015, Forbes magazine estimated Najib’s net worth to be US$ 3.3 billion.

This estimation made Najib the richest man in Lebanon. Investcom was was sold to a South African company MTN Group. Najib even had an interesting political career. He served as the Prime Minister of Lebanon twice. Due to the increasing tension in Lebanon due to the Syria war, Najib resigned from his post of Prime Minister in the year 2013.

Career Highlights

After completion of his education from the American University in Beirut, Najib and his brother co-founded a telecommunication company. After running the company successfully for several years, and handling projects in Syria and Africa, the brothers decided to sell the company. Investcom was sold to a South African company known as the MTN Group.

They sold the company for a fat price of US$ 5.5 billion. Besides his business career, Najib even had an interesting political career. He served as the Prime Minister of Lebanon twice, and after his resignation he still continues to be an active politician in the country.

Personal Life

Not much is known about Najib’s personal life. However we do know that he has a brother Taha who he is extremely close to. Besides this, we also know that Najib comes from a Sunni Muslim family that is based out of Tripoli.

Najib is a married man and has a total of 3 children from his marriage. He was born in Tripoli and holds a Lebanese citizenship. In fear of the tension of the Syrian war, Najib resigned from his post of Prime Minister of Lebanon. Najib is approximately 59 years old.

Achievements

Besides being declared as the richest man in Lebanon by Forbes magazine, Nahib has received no other awards. However he did put in several efforts to ensure that Lebanon stayed out of the Syrian conflict.
