Childhood

Karolina Isela Kurkova was born on 28^th February, 1984 in Decin, Czechoslovakia. Her mother was a Slovakian and father was a Czech basketball player, Josef Kurka.

Early Career

Though she was a laughing stalk due to her height, she landed with a modeling runway at the age of 15 in Prague. This marked her early career where she also signed some print media and commercial advertisements.

She has also signed a contract with Prada at that young age. She moved to New York where she was featured in the largest fashion magazine, Vogue. At the age of 16 she was chosen to be one of the models of the elite lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret.  She adorned the cover of an edition of Vogue in the age of 17.

Career

Karolina signed prominent fashion shows and innumerous marketing campaigns for big brands like Channel, Tommy Hilfiger, and Versace which brought her to the complete limelight. In the year 2002, she walked the ramp of Victoria’s secret as a show stopper. She also had an amazing ramp career with Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Ralph Lauren etc to name a few.

Kurkova made her debut in the 2007 film, My Sexiest Year. She also appeared in the Reality show Das perfekte Model. The biggest sensation of her acting career had been when she was casted in the 2009 Hollywood hit, GI Joe: The rise of Cobra. She has also been given the guest chair for the fifteenth season of America’s Next Top Model.

Her biggest achievement had been her ramp walk as “Victoria’s Secret Angel” wearing the “Fantasy Bra” collection twice. This gave her the complete edge over the media coverage.

Karolina is married to Archie Dury, since 2009 and lives in New York City. The couple was blessed with a son child, Tobin Jack Dury since 2009 itself.

Karolina Kurkova faced a lot of criticism when she had put on a heavy physique while she walked the ramp. Doctor diagnosed her with “hyperthyroidism” which caused her to put on weight. She was under a lot of stress and her modeling career had almost become a wreck. She gathered all her courage and didn’t give up.

She was invited to talk in a forum of Council of Fashion Designers of America called a well balanced life where she spoke how she went through menopause and heavy weight put on. She informed how balanced diet helped her revive. In 2015, the couple is expecting a second baby.
