Claudia Schiffer Success Story

Claudia Schiffer was born on 25 August 1970 in Rheinberg, a small town near Dusseldorf in Germany. Her father, Heinz Schiffer was a well-known attorney and her mother, Gudrun, a homemaker. Claudia has two brothers and one sister. She had aspirations to be a lawyer. Claudia was seen and selected as model by Michel Levaton of Metropolitan Model Agency at 17 years of age.

Early Career

Claudia was 17 years old when Michel Levaton spotted her at a nightclub in Dusseldorf and asked her to join his modeling agency the “Metropolitan Model Agency”. She got her major break when the Elle Magazine decided to feature her on the cover of their magazine.

Career Highlights

Claudia was selected the “Guess Girl” by Paul Marciano, President of Guess Jeans. Post the success of Guess in 1989, Claudia became a Global phenomenon. Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel Designer was so smitten by her that he convinced her to walk the ramp. She captivated the audience with her charm, poise and style and won the hearts of fashion icons like Versace, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent. Claudia then signed a lucrative contract with Revlon for a television commercial. She is the joint owner of the Fashion Café along with fellow models Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Elle Macpherson. Schiffer landed a record-breaking contract with L’Oreal in 1997 and in the same year. She appeared on the Playboy pictorial.

In March 2012, Guess hired the iconic Schiffer back to celebrate 30 years of the brand. She has an uncanny resemblance to the French actress Bridget Bardott. Schiffer owns her own fashion line called the Claudia Schiffer Cashmere, which she launched in 2011 at the Paris Fashion Week. She is a member of UNICEF and the UK Goodwill ambassador.

A book titled “Claudia Schiffer” by Lagerfeld, comprising a collection of Claudia’s photographs was published in 1996 as a tribute to one of the most beautiful women in the world. She has appeared on several talk shows on television.

Personal Life

Schiffer is married to film producer Matthew Vaughn. They have three children named Caspar, Clementine and Poppy.
