Jon Stryker is an American architect and a philanthropist. He is widely known activist for social and environmental causes. He is the heir to Stryker Corporation. Stryker is also the President and founder of Arcus Foundation. It is a philanthropic organization that focuses on the conservation efforts and LGBT causes.
Stryker was born to Lee Stryker in Michigan in 1958. Stryker’s father died in an airplane crash in 1976. Stryker graduated from the Kalamazoo College prior to serving in the Board of Trustees at the College. He also completed his masters from University of California in Architecture.
Stryker is the President of Arcus Foundation. Arcus Foundation is a philanthropic organization that aims at the conservation of the environment. It also fights for the rights of the LGBT community. Stryker is the heir and a billionaire stock holder of the Stryker Corporation. The organization supplies products used in joint surgeries, trauma surgeries and surgical navigation systems.
Stryker Corporation is divided into Reconstructive, Medical and Surgical and Neurotechnology. Stryker is one the leading donors to the LGBT community. Stryker purchased Howmedica in 1998. He acquired SpineCore Inc. in 2004 and Hafia in 2006. Stryker has also acquired Neurovascular Division of Boston Scientific and Malvern in 2011.
Stryker is the President of Depot Landmark LLC and a registered architect in Michigan. He serves as the Board of Directors for Friends of the High Line. Friends of High Line is a non-profit organization that is a private partner to New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. A colobine species Rhinopithecus strykeri is named after Stryker to honor his philanthropic acts for the saving of environment.
Stryker is divorced with two children and is openly gay. Stryker stays in New York City and owns multiple properties in Kalamazoo. He owns the building of Stryker Corp. He also owned an apartment in Time Warner Center prior to selling it in 2007.
