Benefits Of Reading Every Day
Whether it is a book from the library, an audio-book downloaded from amazon, or an e-book on your tablet; reading has become more accessible than ever before. With just a few clicks, you can download classic literature, imaginative fiction, inspirational biographies, and motivational self-help.
That being said, there are few excuses to not find time to read at least 20 pages a day. We all know that what you read/watch/listen has an impact on not only your mood, but also how you grow as a person. And I believe that the best way to grow as a person is to read daily.
Tai Lopez reads a book every day, while Les Brown says that you should read at least one book in a month. Both of these methods work for some more than others. Me personally? I try to read a book or two a week. But all of these techniques require you to make reading a daily habit.
Here are 4 benefits of reading, no matter what your long term pace is:
You become a master :
Whatever area that you want to excel in, reading every day is probably the best thing you can do to accomplish that goal.
You have to be selective and choose the books that grow your knowledge base. Want to become a musician? Read books about the industry. Pick up an audio-book on some famous musician that you idolize so that you can learn from their story.
You grow as a person:
As the old saying goes “the more you know, the more you grow.” It’s important to recognize the value of whatever you read, and channel it into your own life. What is the life lesson? What useful nugget of wisdom can you reapply later on to a problem that you encounter later on?
You can share the wealth :
With this knowledge/wisdom that you gain from reading, the next step is to help others “rise up”.
That means finding ways to not only help yourself grow, but help the people around you. Even if you don’t necessarily need that book about public speaking, you can share that knowledge (and the book itself) with someone who has that fear. Plus, reading every day will impress the people around you.
You create a positive, constructive habit :
Instead of plopping down in front of the TV every night for an hour watching reality shows. You can take that hour, pick up a classic such as Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich and find a way to improve the overall quality of your life.
You’ll feel better, your brain will thank you for the change of pace, and your friends and family will appreciate your contributions to their lives.
In this day and age, people say they “don’t have time to read.” I’ve told myself that same excuse for years. But I promise you, if you take a hard look at your daily routine, you can find a half hour every day to read a couple of chapters. If you seriously want to improve your quality of life, gain some knowledge, and impress your friends; you will find a way to read every day.
Finally, I can’t tell you what to read. That’s the beauty of choice, nobody reads the same books nor looks at them the same way. Just let yourself explore the world of literature, in whatever area you choose.
