3 Time Management Tips to be Successful
Most of us struggle to balance our work and personal life. They know time is finite and hence they value their time. Managing your time involves managing your thoughts, conversations and activities efficiently. Here are three time management tips that will help you master your time and lead you to the path of success.
1. Schedule Your Time for the Week in Advance
Carry a schedule and write down all your thoughts and activities for the week. At the end of the day, you can keep track of how much work you have done during the course of the day and where your precious time is being spent. This also helps you to analyse how much time you are actually spending productively and how much time you are wasting on unproductive thoughts.
All activities and important conversations should have specific time assigned to them. Prioritise your activities and have the discipline to strictly keep the appointments. Be prepared for unexpected interruptions so that you don't lose control of your time management.
2. Say No When You Have To
Learn to say "No" when you have to. If you let yourself to get pressurised to say "yes" to every piece of work that comes your way, you are certainly going to end up more and more stressed out. Scheduling and prioritising is important in time management. However, there are a few things you should avoid doing.
Decline work which is not your job. Do not delegate work which is someone else's responsibility. If you feel you cannot meet the deadline for whatever reasons, do not accept the work.
3. Exercise Regularly
Work can be the biggest source of stress. Learning to cope with pressure is crucial if you want to progress in your career. Exercise is one of the best ways to cope with work pressure. It improves your physical and mental strength. Make regular exercise a part of your daily routine.
Over a period of time, it will improve your ability to cope with stress better and will allow you to take on more tougher challenges both in your work and personal life.
Time management is a habit. We need to get out of the habit of saying, "I do not have time". Every one of us has the same number of hours. It's upto us to decide how we utilize time. Pick the habit that will make the biggest positive change in your life and implement it in right away.
