Participative leadership survives on a balance between control and engagement. Transactional Leadership

Set goals, provide guidance and reward the achievers - looks simple? Well, that is what a transactional leader does. Increasing efficiency and productivity is what they aim for while keeping the employees motivated with rewards.

3. Autocratic leadership

Genghis Khan, Adolf Hitler - you got the idea. In today's context these leaders can be defined as controlling and authoritative who like to take control of everything; instead of going around chopping people's heads off who dare to raise a voice, as it used to happen during the eras of empires and tribes.
Rather than encouraging participation among employees, they prefer having full control over decision making and are more suitable in military, construction or the business of sports, rather than in a corporate environment.

4. Laissez-Faire Leadership

laissez faire

Contrary to the one mentioned above, this style of leadership is more laid back, involving neither supervision nor feedback. Sounds ideal, doesn't it? However, this kind of leadership might not be suitable in every case, as it is only effective for highly experienced and well trained employees.
Adverse effect can be seen on productivity and budget, considering the employees are not given any training or feedback to keep them in sync.

5. Transformational Leadership
