Most Successful Personality Types
Our education system makes us believe that having the essential skills for the job we want to have is enough to succeed in life. But contrary to this, it is also essential to have a personality that goes with the job or else you may not be able to use your skills upto your full potential.
In fact, there are many tests that help you find your personality traits so that you may choose the right career for yourself.
Different Personality Types
One such test is Myers-Brigg Type Indicator which evaluates 16 different personality types based on different personality traits such as - Extroverted, Introverted, Sensors, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging, Feeling, and Perceiving. The range of personalities talked of by the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator shows a person’s natural inclination towards the kind of environment they may best thrive in. The test portrays two extreme personality types that showcase the two extreme ends of job success.
ENTJ’s - Extroverts, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging
The test has found out that people who have the traits of being Extroverts, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging (ENTJ) tend to be most highly paid. Not only are they able to function better in group, they also have all the qualities that make a great leader. They tend to be confident and effectively communicative making it easier for them to negotiate in jobs and make their opinion count.
INFP’s - Introverts, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving
On the other hand, people who are Introverts, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving (INFP) may lack negotiation skills and miss out on opportunities due to lack of networking. They are among the lowest paid employees who get sidelined at meetings and conferences; and are unable to express their thoughts in large groups.
This is not to say that their ideas and work are any less extraordinary, but it is harder for them to make their ideas reach the right audience. The people with these personality traits often drift towards humanities to find individual ways of expression in music, writing, or arts.
Differences in Personality Traits
While ENTJ people find more job success, it is not necessary that they find job satisfaction as well. Driven largely by monetary gain rather than meaning and values, ENTJ’s may find it hard to feel satisfied with their job at the end of the day. On the other hand, even though INFP’s may not receive high salaries but they usually tend to find more satisfaction in their work having sought jobs that are constitutive of their value system and lend a sense of purpose to their job.
After all, a sense of purpose makes one more passionate about the work they do and deliver gratification which may never be found if one is driven only by money.
Finding out your personality type will help you find your dream job. Whatever your personality type may be, you can find a job that satisfies you by finding out a company’s goals and mission statement and making sure that they reflect the personal values that you believe in and satisfy your need for meaning and purpose in life.
