Solina Chau

The very start of her career was in the year of 1997 when she got the minority partnership of her Tom limited company with the Hutchison Whampoa and Cheung Kong Holdings. She got the financial support of $11 million through these ventures before starting the trade operations of the company. It was September 2003 when Chau transferred its company to Tom Group in the consideration of $132 million. In early 2004, subsidiary of its company naming, Tom Online was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

She took the project of Beijing Oriental Plaza, which made her a wealthy woman in a couple of days. She got the notable fame when she sold this Plaza to the Li Ka Shing and suddenly became the business star of the china. This step was the good fortune for her that put four stars to her business mind. After this incident of 1993, she got the tons of opportunities in the business community that brought her a great wealth.

Horizon Venture invested at least US$70 million in 2014, in more than 80 tech companies, under Chau. After selling a major portion of Tom Online, she is working so long in the company of the richest person of the Asia say, Li Ka Shing.

At present, Chau is also holding a major portion of the shares of Tom.com, a publication and promotion company in the People’s Republic of the China.

Education

Solina Chau Hoi Shuen, born in 1961, is a prominent Hong Kong businesswoman and director of the Li Ka Shing Foundation. She began her education at the prestigious Diocesan Girls' School in Hong Kong, where she was elected junior house captain. After completing the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination in 1978 and graduating in 1979, Chau pursued higher education in Sydney, Australia, attending the University of New South Wales. This international academic experience laid the groundwork for her future endeavors in business and philanthropy.

Reputation

Chau was the backhand in the success of the Li Ka Shing for bringing him to the position of the richest man in whole Asia. The business strategies and determined support of the Chau take the company at the top position. Apart from her marvellous business skills, Chau is also appreciating education in China that is more focused on female awareness. She wants to see female independent and courageous in every field of life.

Chau’s energetic and powerful aspirations crowned her with a number of awards and rank in the list of the most powerful women. She listed as the 82^nd most powerful women in 2014 by Forbes.

Personal life

Chau is known for her privacy regarding personal matters. She has not married and does not have children, focusing instead on her career and philanthropic efforts. Beyond business, she is dedicated to promoting women's education in China, particularly in the IT sector.

Except being the business queen, she is working for the better women education in the IT sector.

In 2012, Chau successfully sued the Hong Kong distributor of Beijing-based Caijing magazine for defamation after it alleged she accepted bribes from a mainland government official. The court ruled in her favor, ordering the magazine to publish an apology, which Chau accepted.

Chau's personal life reflects her commitment to her professional endeavors and her close association with Li Ka-shing, with whom she has collaborated on numerous projects.
