Monique established her first retail store in 2001. Her wedding dress for Britney Spears and Christine Baumgartner catpaulted her in to prominence. Monique tried her hand at diverse styles and collections.

Monique's rise is the world of couture has been meteoric. She enjoys an elite status as an international fashion designer. Elegance and grace symbolise Monique's collections. She uses exotic laces and embriodery and imported fabric like the finest silks, chiffons and satins for her dresses. Her designs have become trendsetters. Her bridal and evening wear are hand-made.

Monique introduced her signature collection of accessories; bags, footwear and bridal jewellery. Lhuillier partnered with Waterford to design a 'tabletop' collection of stemware, fine china and giftware. Se started Monique Lhuillier Fine Paper in 2008, supplying stationery and wedding invites, candles, diffusers and fragrances. From wedding gowns to evening dresses, Monique's stores now showcase linens, fine paper, bridesmaid, bridal, evening wear and home fragrances.

Monique established a “flagship” store in Los Angeles. The couple opened a branch in Minneapolis. The store sells authorised bags, furs, shoes and perfumes. Monique establised another store in New York in 2012.

Monique has over the years built an impressive list of clientele, comprising the 'who's who' of the glamour world. First Lady, Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry patronise her designs. She has 140 stores across the globe. Her collections are available in illustrious retail outlets of Neiman Marcus, Saks Fif Avenue, Bergdof Goodman and harvey Nichols.

Monique recently struck a deal with Pottery Barn Kids, making it her first foray in to children's ome furnisings.

Monique for the first time offered her bridesmaid dresses on rent to Vow To Be Chic, a company that rents out designer bridesmaid dresses.

Personal Life

Monique is married to Tom Bugbee. The couple met in Los Angeles. He was an accountant. Tom is the CEO of their company, Monique Lhuillier & Company. They have two children, Jack and Sophia. Monique is involved in charitable activities. The family resides in Los Angeles.

Recognitions

Monique Lhuillier won the 'Glamorous Design Award 2001' and the 'Avant Garde Bridal Designer Award 2002'. She was bestowed the 'Designer of the Year Award' from the Wedding Dresses Magazine 2003. Monique received the 'Medal of Honour' and the 'Presidential Medal of Merit' from Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the Phillipine President in 2006. Monique was requested to join the Council of Fasion Designers of America. She is shortlisted for the “100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the United States” as "Innovators and Thought Leaders" by Filipina Women's Network search.
