Miranda Kerr Story
Miranda Kerr is an Australian supermodel turned businesswoman and author. She is the first Australian model to become a Victoria’s Secret “Angel”. Miranda is a fashion style icon and teenage idol known for her fitness regime.
Childhood
Miranda was born in the small town of Gunnedah, in New South Wales, Australia. She owes her humility to her humble upbringing in her countryside hometown. Miranda’s parents, Therese and John Kerr have been her biggest supporters and she also shares a very close relationship with her grandmother. At the age of 12, Kerr wanted to become a marine biologist or a naturopath and amidst her busy schedule, she has successfully completed a course in nutrition as a lifestyle coach at the Academy of Natural Living.
Early Career
Miranda started modeling at the age of 13, when she won the Dolly cover girl contest and inked a contract with Chic modeling agency. Following the success of her win in the teenage modeling contest, Kerr was signed up for the surf wear brand Billabong.
Career Highlights
Miranda moved to New York and in 2007, and landed a contract with Next Model Agency. She was the face of top fashion brands including Robert Cavalli, Levi’s and Richmond. Miranda also made it to the cover pages of Elle and Harper Bazaar. She later began her association with Maybelline and gained tremendous international exposure. After Next she joined IMG Models and in 2009, started an Organic Skin Care line – Kora Organics, along with her mother.
Apart from this, Kerr also became the first pregnant model for Vogue in 2011. Her success on the high fashion circuit has been with brands such as Prada, David Jones, H&M, Mango, Calvin Klein and Swarowski to name a few. Kerr was also chosen to wear the $2.5 million Fantasy Bra by Victoria’s Secret.
Reputation
Kerr is a fashion icon for teenagers across the world and has featured in several beauty and health tip videos. In 2012, she was listed on the Forbes list of the highest paid models and in the same year she was also voted as the “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire, UK.
Personal Life
Kerr practices yoga and is serious about her fitness. She is also a member of the Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist network. At the age of 16, Kerr was faced with the terrible loss of her boyfriend, who died in a car accident. Later, in 2003, she began seeing musician Jay Lyon, but their 4 year relationship ended in 2007. In 2010, Miranda married English actor Orlando Bloom and had a son on January 2011. Her son, Flynn, takes his name after her deceased ex-boyfriend. In 2013, the couple announced that they would be ending their marriage.
TV and Books
She has authored a self-help book titled “Treasure yourself”. It is a personal account of her story which became a no.1 bestseller in Australia.
