Wendy’s is a multinational fast food restaurant chain. This American multinational company has its headquarters at Dublin in Ohio. Located in more than 65,000 places, Wendy’s had the third largest hamburger fast food chain in the world till 1999. More than 47,000 people found a job in this firm, across the globe. The sales of the company stood $2.46 billion in 2006.

Around 85% of its North American restaurants are franchised. The advertisement of Wendy’s hamburger, “Where’s the Beef?” had even influenced the pop culture of America in the early 1980s. Morgan Smith Goodwin is seen in advertisement pages of Wendy’s since 2012.

Trajectory

Dave Thomas found Wendy’s in 1969 at Columbus in Ohio. Less than three years later, the firm had started filming its advertisements to be aired in Ohio and also the firm got their first franchise in the same year. In 1976, came the 500th restaurant of Wendy’s. Sisters Chicken, a fried chicken chain was founded by the company in 1978 but was later sold out.

The Munich unit of Wendy’s food chain was opened in 1979 and also it has introduced salad bar, first of its kind by any food chain. Later, by opening stores in Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Hongkong, and Singapore in the early 80s, Wendy’s had announced its Asian entry. The company later expanded to New Zealand, Greece, Italy, Turkey, and Mexico. Clara Peller’s advertisement campaign for the firm also came in this time.

With the slogan, “Where is Beef? the advertisement has directly influenced the popular culture of the time. Opening around 180 restaurants, the firm has entered into Russian market in 2011. In 2015, Wendy’s announced its entry into Indian market. The firm is working upon the remodeling of its American stores and also about to expand its business to 80 new locations.
