Founding of Danaher Corporation
Founded as DMC Inc. in 1969, the company changed its name in 1978 to become Diversified Mortgage Investors Inc., and again in 1984 to finally get its name, Danaher Corporation. The company’s name is inspired from Danaher Creek, Montana, the favorite place of Rales brothers, where Mitchell and Steven go fishing.
Danaher Corporation acquisitions
In 1986, Danaher bought Chicago Pneumatic who had recently merged with the Jacobs Manufacturing Company and bought Matco Tools Corporation. In 1987, they sold out Chicago Pneumatic and retained Jacobs and its Matco Tools Division. In 1993, they formed NMTC Inc., and acquired a significant part of the MTC assets. After acquiring 12 companies within 2 years, company entered the manufacturing business by adding Qualitrol, Dynapar and Gilbarco Veeder in its instrumentation unit. Danaher added PMA and Kollmorgen in 2005, Vision Systems Limited in 2007, and also Tektronix Inc. in 2007. They also bought Analytical Technologies and Life Technologies Corporation in 2009, Beckman Coulter in 2011, and Navman Wireless in 2012. They have also recently announced acquisition of Nobel Biocare Holding AG and Pall.
Operational sectors
Danaher Corporation is operational via five different divisions:

Test and measurement, through which the company provides electronic measurement monitoring and instruments, optimization and management tools for enterprise networks, communications and related services.

Environmental, through which they provide products for the protection of water supply and air quality. For water and air quality treatment and analysis, they provide disinfection and instrumentation systems in commercial, industrial, residential and natural sources.

This division is dedicated to designing, manufacturing and marketing a wide range of equipments used for printing bar codes, lot codes, date codes, and other info on secondary and primary packaging.
