Childhood

Jeremih Felton was born on July 17, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois into a musical family. His exposure to musical instruments started from the tender age of three. He learnt to play the saxophone, drums and the paino without any formal training. Jeremih went to Morgan Park High School and was a member of the school's 'marching and the jazz bands. Jeremih studied engineering from the Parkland College. He has a degree in music business from the Columbia College, Chicago.

Early Career

Jeremih recorded his first song, 'My Ride' in partnership with record producer Mick Schultz. He signed an agreement with Russell Simmons' CEO, Def Jam in 2009. Jeremih launched his first single, 'Birthday Sex' in 2009. It charted at 'number four' on the US Billboard Hot 100. His titular debut album, 'Jeremih' peaked at 'number six' on the US Billboard 200 chart and 59,000 copies of the album was sold in the first week itself. Jeremih participated in the tour, 'America's Most Wanted' to promote his album.

Jeremih was chosen by the Chicago Public School to spread the message of 'return to school' among children in 2009. The same year, he performed on One Life to Live, a soap opera on ABC Daytime.

Jeremih's single, 'Down on Me' from his second album, 'All About You' topped the Rhythmic Billboard Chart and held the 'number one' position for eight weeks. Jeremih launched his first mixtape, 'Late Nights with Jeremih' in 2012 to positive reviews. He launched 'No More', his collaborative EP with electronic producer, Shlohmo through his twitter account in 2014.

Jeremih hs an impressively long lit of releases in 2015. His singles from his third studio album, 'Don't Tell Em' were released in 2015. The album itself was released in December 2015.

Jeremih has been compared to The-Dream, Stevie Wonder and R Kelly. He was inspired and influenced by the music styles of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and R Kelly.

Recognitions

Jeremih won the Hip Hop/R&B Song of the Year Award in 2015 for his album, 'Don't Tell Em'. He bagged the Best New Entertainer Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year and R&B Entertainer Of The Year in 2010. Jeremih was conferred the Best Male Vocalist Of The Year in 2011.
