Khalifa is born on September 8, 1987 in Minot, North Dakota, United States. His parents served in the military, due to which he travelled across Germany, UK and Japan. Finally, they settled in Pittsburgh, where he attended school. He was deeply influenced by Bone Thugs n Harmony, The Notorious BIG, Camp Lo and Jimi Hendrix.
Khalifa mixed tapes for different Pittsburgh artists. This caught the attention of Benjy Grinberg, the president of Rostrum Records. He signed a contract with Rostrum Records and released Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, a mixtape in 2005, followed by a complete album, Show and Prove, in 2006. Later in 2007, Wiz signed a contract with Warner Bros Records and released two mixed tapes. Star Power was released in 2008, followed by Flight School in 2009. He parted with Warner Bros in 2009, and went back to Rostrum Records.
‘Say Yeah’, Khalifa’s single with Warner Bros., reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks, and number 25 on Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 music charts. His mixtape ‘Kush and Orange Juice’ released in 2010 became the number one trending topic over Twitter. ‘Black and Yellow’, his single with Atlantic, reached #1 on US Billboard Hot 100. Khalifa released four albums under his own record label, ‘Taylor Gang Records’; Rolling Papers, Only Nigga in First Class, Work Hard, Play Hard, Remember You, Blacc Hollywood.

Wiz Khalifa married his girlfriend, Amber Rose in 2013. They have a son. Rose filed for divorce in 2014.
Khalifa received the Best New Artist Award from BET in 2011, and Top New Artist for Billboard Music Award in 2012. His song ‘See You Again’ received Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song, Choice Collaboration and Choice Song from a Movie or TV Show in 2015.
