Childhood

Brad Paisley started playing guitar at an early age of 8. His father, Douglas Edward Paisley, was employedwith the West Virginia Department of Transportation while his mother Sandra Jean Paisley was a teacher. His love for country music blossomed after his maternal grandfather gifted him a Sears DanelectroSilvertone.

He made his first public performance when he was just 10 years old and wrote his first song,‘Born on Christmas Day’, at the age of 13. He had alsoformed a band,‘Brad Paisley And The C-Notes’along with his guitar teacher and two other people.

Early Career

Soon after graduating in Music Businessfrom the Belmont University, he entered into a contract for song writing with EMI Music Publishing. He has ventured into producing hits since then, and he worked for David Kersh’s‘Another You’ in 1997.

His debut album as a singer was released by Arista Nashville, with the single‘Who Needs Pictures’, in February 1999. He also appeared in the Grand Ole Opry in the same year. In the latter half of the year, he released another hit song ‘He Didn’t Have To Be’.With the beginning of the new millennium, his albums started occupying space in the hit lists and still goes on.

Career Highlights

In 2001, he was nominated for the Grammy Awards for the Best New Artist. The decade that followed had given him many hits as well recognitions. It was in 2002, that he won the CMA Music Video of the Year award for the single,‘I’m Gonna Miss Her’, in the album Part II.

His next album,‘Mud on the Trees’ was released in 2003, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. It included the famous duet ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ with Allison Krauss. Some of his other hit singles are:‘Time Well Wasted,’ ‘5^th Gear’,‘This Is Country Music’, ‘American Saturday Night’,‘Wheelhouse’,and recently ‘Moonlight in the Trunk’.
