Childhood

Michael Fassbender was born on April 2, 1977 in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany to Josef and Adele Fassbender. Michael has an older sister. He was brought up as a Catholic and was an altar boy. Michael moved to Killarney, County Kerry, Republic of Ireland with his family at the age of two. His father was a chef at a restaurant managed by them. Michael studied at the Fossa National School and St. Brendan's College. He aspired to be an actor from the young age of 17. Michael enrolled in the Drama Centre London. He did not complete his studies and accompanied the Oxford Stage Company to act in the play, Three Sisters.

Early Career

Michael Fassbender started his career doing odds jobs, while auditioning for roles in films. Michael got his break with a role in Band of Brothers, a WW II television mini-series. He played the protagonist in the music video of "Blind Pilots" a song by the British band, The Cooper Temple Clause. Fassbender featured in The Quarrel, a Guinness television advertisement. The advertisement bagged the 'Gold Medal' at the FAB Awards 2005. Multi-talented, Fassbender directed, produced and acted in the stage play, Reservoir Dogs. He appeared in Angel, an English drama by the French Director, François Ozon. The premeire show was held at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Michael Fassbender tasted success with his role as a young spartan in the fantasy action film, '300'. The film did well at the box office and he was critically appreciated. He received criical acclaim for his acting talent in the films, Inglourious Basterds and Fish Tank. He was nominated for BIFA for the film, Fish Tank.

Michael Fassbender was heralded into a different league altogether with is biographical role in Hunger, an epic drama in 2008 at the Cannes Film Festival. Fssbender has had a busy 2015! He starred in the Western, Slow West, which he has produced. The premeire show was held at Sundance Film Festival. He acted as Macbeth in a film directed by Justin Kurzel. Fassbender depicted Steve Jobs, former Founder-cum-CEO of Apple in the film Steve Jobs.

The future is bright and inviting for Michael! Fassbender will act in the sequel to Prometheus. He plans to act and co-produce in the adapted version of Assassin's Creed. Fassbender partnered with screen-writer Ronan Bennett to establish a production house, Finn McCool Films.

Michael Fassbender had a brief love affair with actress, Zoë Kravitz. He was in a relationship with his Shame co-star, Nicole Beharie. Fassbender was dating model-cum-actress, M?d?lina Diana Ghenea in 2013. He is currently involved with actress Alicia Vikander, his co-star in the film, The Light Between Oceans.

Fassbender lives in London. He speaks fluent German and is a 'lapsed Catholic'.
