Quinton de Kock is a professional South African cricketer who represents the Titans and the Gauteng cricket teams at the domestic level. He has played professionally for the South African international cricket team as well as a top-order batsman and an excellent wicket-keeper.
Quinton de Kock’s good performance in the One-Day and T-20 formats led to his selection for the South Africa side during the 2012-2013 seasons. He has sinceplayed regularly for the South African team at the international level in the ODI as well as the Twenty-20 International level. In 2014, de Kock had made his Test debut for South Africa as one of the top-order batsman.
After his 20th ODI match, de Kock had already scored five centuries and became the fourth player ever to score three successive one-day centuries as well as the second player ever to score four ODI centuries before 21 years of age.
Early Life
Quinton de Kock was born on 17th December, 1992 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was spotted as a budding talent by impressed cricket agents while attending the famous King Edward VII School in Johannesburg. He is noted for having scored an impressive 95 off 131 balls in South Africa’s first match against Bangladesh which was won by South Africa by 133 runs.
He also played club cricket and his aggressive all-round-the-wicket style of play resulted in him being selected for the South African Under-19 squad where he was also the captain.
Career
De Kock was later recognized after his excellent performance in the 2012 World Cup where he scored an impressive 284 runs in six matches with a highest score of 126 runs and an average of 48.33.
De Kock was also seen by the national selectors during the Champions League T20 where he was the star of the match-winning partnership with McKenzie against the Mumbai Indians.
He made his ODI debut for South Africa in 2012-13 seasons and was instantly hailed as one of the best performers even by rival team-members against India.
Heights
De Kock rose to popularity more after scoring 51 off 33 balls while playing the first match for South African Highveld Lions against the Mumbai Indians in the Champions League Twenty20 in 2012. He later captained the team to win the 2013 domestic twenty20 tournament in South Africa and became the season champions.
After being bought for $20,000 by the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad on February 3, 2013. De Kock and later played for the Delhi Daredevils for the 2014 tournament.
Personal Life
Quinton de Kock was born on December 17, 1992 in Johannesburg, South Africa and attended the famous King Edward VII School there. De Kock is currently dating IPL cheerleader, Sasha Hurly.
Awards
Quinton de Kock has been awarded the man-of-the-match award for several ODIs such as against India on December 5, 2013 and against England on February 9, 2016.
De Kock has also won the player-of-the-series award for the series of Africa against India in 2013-14 and against Zimbabwe in 2014.
In the Twenty20 format of cricket de Kock has won the man-of-the-match award for the match against Pakistan in 2014 as well as the player-of-the-series award for the series against Australia in 2013-14,.
