Childhood
Carly was born to parents Alexandra and Larry Jepsen in Mission, British Columbia. Her passion for theatre and music got her to perform in student productions of Grease,Annie and The Wiz. She later wenton to study musical theatre at the Canadian College of Performing Arts.
Early Career
In 2007, Jepson auditionedfor the Canadian Idol Season 5 and succeeded in winning the3rd spot. She also went on a concert tour as a part of the Canadian Idol Top 3.
Post the tour, she began focusing on her songwriting skills and started recording alongside. She was signed by manager Jonathan Simkin, who was her first deal.
Career Highlights
Jepson made her debut in 2008 with her first pop album Tug of War, which included the single Bucket and a cover version of John Denver’s Sunshine on My Shoulder. In 2012, she released Curiosity with the hit single Call Me Maybe, which topped the charts in the US and Canada.
Justin Bieber tweeted about the song and subsequently released a lip-sync video which went viral. Bieber’s manager,Scooter Braun signed her for a record deal with his own label.
CallMe Maybe was the best-single of 2012 and was also a worldwide hit, because of which, Jepson was recognized as the Rising Star at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
She then recorded Good Timewith Owl City,which was No.8 on the Billboard Hot 100. She released Kiss in 2012 with another single Tonight I’m Getting Over You.However, this album did not do as well as her first.
In March 2015, she released her third album’s pilotsingle I Really Like You. Her latest release Emotiona folk-pop album includes collaborations with a variety of stars including Sia, Dev Hynes, RustomBatmanglij, Greg Kurstin and Ariel Rechtshaid.
Reputation
Jepson’s sensational hit Call Me Maybe, which made her Teen Idol 2012. She is known to be a strong supporter of the LGBT community and has won a lot of praise for cancelling her appearance at the Boy Scouts Concert by standing up for gay rights.
Personal Life
Not much is known about Jepson’s personal life, her dating life in specific. Though, in an interview with Ryan Seacrest,she did reveal that she has a love interest.

Jepson has made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show,where she performed Call Me Maybe with her biggest supporter Justin Bieber. She has also performed on Jimmy Fallon’s Show with his house band, The Roots.
