Lakshmi Nivas Mittal or the king of steel is undoubtedly the captain of the steel industry. He was born in Sadalpur, Churu District of Rajasthan- a district which was devoid of the basic amenities of life. So his father Mohanlal Mittal, along with his family relocated to Kolkatta and tried his luck by starting a small- scale steel unit.

Talking about his family, he has a spouse named Usha Mittal and two children Vanisha Mittal and Aditya Mittal. Vanisha Mittal is married to a banker named Amit Bhatia and his son Aditya is married to Megha Mittal. After obtaining an academic degree in Commerce from St. Josephs's college in Kolkatta, Lakshmi Nivas Mittal started his career looking after the family business along with his two brothers.

He then proceeded further to set up a steel plant in Indonesia because he of his realization of the fact that the Indian legal regulation relating to steel was more of a hindrance than a help. His ability to create opportunities from nothing helped him to work his way up to become one of the richest Asians in the UK. Moreover, he is also known for his free-spending for his family.

This is evident from a week- long daughter's wedding for which he spent almost $78 million and his magnificent, palace- like house Taj Mittal in Billionaire's row in London. He also has a high-priced ($38 million) jet, which is power driven by two Rolls- Royce BR 710 turbofan engines is supposed to have the capacity to carry 21 people in total. It can fly up to an altitude of 51000 feet.
