Secret Habits of All Rich and Successful People

Our habits are what determine how our lives turn out, including how successful we become. This was what prompted me to take a close look at some of the most successful people we see today to know if they had any traits or habits in common.

Below is the result of my findings. They are secret life hacks. They are 8 behind-the-scene things all rich and successful people habitually do that is responsible for their success.

1. They Make and Play by Their Own Rules

they make and play by their own rules

Society tells us to go to school, get good grades, get a job and work till 65. The average person tries to obey this rule and do what the society commands.

Most of the rich and successful people we have today don’t follow that rule. Many of them like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and Michael Dell chose not to obey these rules. Today their ability to make their own rules is largely responsible for their wealth and success. Steve Jobs for instance was estimated to be worth about $11 billion at the time of his death.

Just like his counter parts, Michael Dell equally plays by his own rules. He started following society’s success rules of going to school initially. He started off as a student of the University of Texas, but could not continue. Right there in his dorm room, he began what later became the famous Dell computers. And you guessed right, he is very successful, and equally a billionaire, worth almost $20 billion.

2. They Work Harder Than They Seem To

they work harder than they seem to

If you love Basketball, then there are chances you know Kobe Bryant. He is a typical example of rich and successful. It is easy to admire him because of how he spends his millions, but then there is so much more behind his success, fame and wealth.

Kobe is known to have an incredible work ethic. His wealth is the result of his success in the court. But behind that amazing success is a tireless practice culture.

3. They Guard Their Time Jealously

they guard their time jealously

“The only difference between a rich person and poor person is how they use their time–Robert Kiyosaki

The rich and successful guard their time as if their life depends on it. They understand that their reaction to time is very important in determining how their financial future will be, so they guard it jealously. They are always time conscious and almost never allow anyone waste their time.

4. They Consciously Grow Their Network

they consciously grow their network

“The richest people in the world build networks; everyone else is trained to look for work.” – Robert Kiyosaki

Networking is just as important as hard work when it comes to determining how successful we will be in life. For instance,Justin Beiber’s rise to fame would never have been possible without Usher’s involvement.

The rich and successful understand how important networking is to their wealth and success. So they consciously go for all these parties and social functions, growing their network indirectly.

5. They Always Expect Excellence

they always expect excellence

"I'm never pleased with anything, I'm aperfectionist, it's part of who I am.” – Michael Jackson.

The acclaimed king of pop was among the class of the rich and successful when he was alive. His music and thrilling dance moves made him one of the greatest musicians that ever lived. It equally gave him a lot of wealth too.

Behind those mind-blowing performances was an insatiable drive for excellence. According to Akon in an interview with MTV, his expectations were always so high, and they had arguments about when a track was ready, because of his perfectionism.

6. They Rely a Lot on Their Instincts

they rely a lot on their instincts

Many times, they have to take some decisions based solely on their gut feeling. These decisions are what usually set them apart from the average Joe. Most times, this is what’s responsible for their success.

7. They Give Back as Much as They Take

they give back as much as they take

Most rich and successful people have several channels through which they give back to the society. It could be in billions of dollars just like the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. It could even be buying an expensive lunch where the proceeds will be given to charity. And just like the saying goes, "givers never lack".

8. They all Sell something

they all sell something

Many people hate the idea of being a sales person. It is understandable because selling is hard work. However, successful people understand the importance of selling. They may not be direct sales men, but they all sell something. And the more they sell, the richer they become.
